Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht is the 2002 PlayStation 2 RPG that opened Monolith Soft's Xenosaga trilogy — the studio's spiritual successor to Xenogears. It introduces systems engineer Shion Uzuki and the combat android KOS-MOS aboard the starship Woglinde, beginning a sprawling space opera against the alien Gnosis. As the first chapter of an originally six-part saga, it sets the series' blend of cinematic storytelling, turn-based party-and-mech combat, and dense philosophical and religious themes.
