Xenogears
Square's 1998 PlayStation RPG directed by Tetsuya Takahashi, where the whole saga began. Its dense weave of mecha combat, psychology, and religious symbolism set the tone every later "Xeno" series would inherit.
Xenosaga
The PlayStation 2 trilogy (Episode I in 2002 through Episode III in 2006) that Takahashi and his team made after founding Monolith Soft. A spiritual successor to Xenogears, it follows Shion Uzuki and the android KOS-MOS across a sprawling space-opera retelling of the same core themes.
Xenoblade
